Privacy Notice
Effective 17 August 2026 · Limited early access
Information we handle
We handle account details, family-tree records, relationships, dates and events, optional lineage information such as gotra, documents you choose to upload, invitations, activity records, and basic technical information needed to operate and secure Ancestric. Family records may describe living or deceased relatives, so the family administrator must have an appropriate basis to add and share them.
How we use information
We use information to authenticate you, provide family trees and relationship features, apply privacy-circle permissions, store and deliver documents, support invitations, prevent misuse, respond to support requests, and maintain the service. We do not sell family data or use it for behavioural advertising.
Who can see family information
Family administrators assign members to Admin, Close Family, Extended Family, or View Only circles. Those choices control application access, but administrators are responsible for inviting the right people and choosing suitable document access levels.
Providers and international processing
We use essential service providers for hosting, managed database, private file storage, authentication delivery, security, and support. These providers may process limited information in India or other countries under their service terms and safeguards.
Documents and security
New vault documents are stored as private objects and streamed only after an authenticated circle check. Connections use HTTPS in production and sessions are server-revocable. Ancestric is not end-to-end encrypted: authorized service operations can access stored data when necessary to provide or secure the service. No online service can guarantee absolute security.
Retention, export, and deletion
We retain information while an account or family space is active and as reasonably needed for security, backups, disputes, and law. Family administrators can request an assisted export or deletion. We may ask for identity or authority verification and may retain limited records where law requires it.
Children and family members
Ancestric is operated by adult account holders. Do not create an account if you cannot legally consent. Administrators adding information about children or other relatives must act responsibly, minimize sensitive details, and obtain consent where required.
Your choices
You can limit optional profile details, leave a family space, or ask for access, correction, export, or deletion. Privacy requests are assessed under applicable law and the rights of other family members.
